Some Basics of Thai Massage
What is Thai Massage? Thai Massage is an ancient healing art originating in Thailand with influences from various traditions including Ayurveda and yoga from India, acupressure from China, and indigenous Thai practices. Thai Massage is actually energy work but is most often referred to as “massage” in the West. A traditional Thai Massage consists of a series of Thai bodywork techniques, including acupressure along energy lines that are applied to the entire body, from the feet to the top of the head. Most often Thai stretches are incorporated throughout the massage. However, some clients may prefer and/or need to have little or no stretching. In Thailand, a Thai Massage without stretching is a legitimate massage treatment and is considered a Traditional Royal Thai Massage.
