Thai Foot Reflexology Massage
Thai Massage is an ancient healing art originating in Thailand with influences from various traditions including Ayerveda and yoga from India, acupressure from China, and indigenous Thai practices. At Flow Bodyworks clients receive Thai Massage from a state licensed massage therapist who has been trained at the Thai Institute of Healing Arts, the sister school to the world-renowned Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and for 14 years had been the "only comprehensive Thai medical education, research and treatment center outside of Thailand." The Thai Institute has since relocated to Thailand to facilitate its more advanced medical Thai Massage trainings.
A traditional Thai Massage consists of a series of Thai bodywork techniques, including acupressure along energy lines, that are applied to the entire body, from the feet to the top of the head. Most often Thai stretches are incorporated throughout the massage. Please note: no flexibility is required. The type and depth of the stretches will vary from client to client or even from one session to the next for the same client. In some cases, clients may prefer no stretching in certain areas or at all. In Thailand a Thai Massage without stretching is a legitimate massage treatment and is considered a Royal Thai Massage. While receiving Thai Massage clients are fully clothed and remain relaxed on a Thai mat on the floor for the duration of the massage. Steamed herbal compresses can be incorporated into the massage to warm sensitive areas of the body in preparation for deeper work or to calm down sensitive areas that have already received work.
While no lotions are used in traditional Thai Massage, a cooling or warming Thai herbal balm is often applied to the feet, neck, shoulders, or low back. During a Thai Foot Reflexology Massage an herbal balm and a custom blend of lotion and oil, imported directly from Thailand, is used on the feet and lower legs, making it an overall sensational and deeply therapeutic experience that increases ease of movement and energy throughout the entire body.
After receiving Thai bodywork at Flow Bodyworks, clients have said they feel alive and energized yet relaxed, often for days afterwards. It's an EXPERIENCE like no other that clients have called "magical"!

Most of us live in Asheville or visit for our love of the mountains and slower pace of life, not to mention all of the incredible outdoor activities available at our fingertips: rock climbing, hiking, running, mountain biking, cycling, kayaking, etc. In other words, relaxation and fun is what these beautiful mountains and unique town have to offer. Take full advantage and go with the flow while you’re here . . . Treat yourself to a Table Massage at Flow Bodyworks to completely relax your body and let your mind go! Whether you need to simply relax, relieve sore muscles, pain or stiffness, or perhaps improve sports performance and recovery.
Choose from a Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, or an Integrated Table Massage. The Integrated Table Massage includes a mix of techniques from the West that flow from one area of the body to another: Swedish Massage to help you relax and improve circulation, Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release to help reduce chronic muscular pain or discomfort by affecting the deeper layers of muscle tissue, fascia, and tendons, as well as sports techniques and Thai stretches from the East to increase mobility and further improve circulation. In any of the massage treatments I offer at Flow Bodyworks, benefits can be achieved with any degree of pressure, whether your preference is for Light, Medium, or Deep Pressure.
Extra time and great care is taken in interviewing clients before beginning each massage to fully understand your needs and preferences. By doing so, we can customize your massage to help you obtain maximum benefit and satisfaction. At Flow Bodyworks, you are an individual whose health and wellness I truly value, so much so that I limit the number of massage sessions I do each day and practice wellness and health in my own life. By doing so, I'm better able to give you the best of what I have to offer every time!
At Flow Bodyworks you will enjoy a beautiful and serene therapy space and a convenient location just south of downtown with easy access, plenty of parking, and a personable and knowledgeable massage therapist. It is so very important to me that you receive the kind of massage therapy treatment YOU want, and that can change from one visit to the next. I'm here to listen to you and to help guide you on your healing path.
