Thai Massage
& Thai Foot Reflexology Massage Thai Massage, or what is often referred to as Thai Yoga Massage, is an ancient healing art originating in Thailand with influences from various traditions including Ayurveda and yoga from India, acupressure from China, and indigenous Thai practices. At Flow Bodyworks clients receive Thai Massage from a state licensed massage therapist who has been trained at the Thai Institute of Healing Arts, the sister school to the world-renowned Old Medicine Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and for 14 years had been the "only comprehensive Thai medical education, research and treatment center outside of Thailand." The Thai Institute has since relocated to Thailand to facilitate its more advanced medical Thai Massage trainings.
A traditional Thai Massage consists of a series of Thai bodywork techniques, including acupressure along energy lines that are applied to the entire body, from the feet to the top of the head. Most often Thai stretches are incorporated throughout the massage. Please note: no flexibility is required. The type and depth of the stretches will vary from client to client or even from one session to the next for the same client. In some cases, clients may prefer no stretching in certain areas or at all. (In Thailand, a Thai Massage without stretching is partly what designates it as a Royal Thai Massage.) While receiving Thai Massage, clients are fully clothed and remain relaxed on a Thai mat on the floor for the duration of the massage. Steamed herbal compresses can be incorporated into the massage to warm sensitive areas of the body in preparation for deeper work or to calm down sensitive areas that have already received work. While no lotions are used in traditional Thai Massage, a cooling or warming Thai herbal balm is often applied to the feet, neck, shoulders, or low back. During a Thai Foot Reflexology Massage an herbal balm and a custom blend of lotion and oil, imported directly from Thailand, is used on the feet and lower legs, making it an overall sensational and deeply therapeutic experience that increases ease of movement and energy throughout the entire body. After receiving Thai bodywork at Flow Bodyworks, clients have said they feel alive and energized yet relaxed, often for days afterwards. It's an EXPERIENCE like no other that clients have called "magical"! Thai Massage is for everyone! However, athletes and very physically active clients tend to really LOVE this work! There is nothing else like it . . . massage AND stretching! And at times, simultaneously! Click HERE for REVIEWS |
